Davis Love Foundation

Established in 2005 by professional golfer Davis Love, III, the Davis Love Foundation contributes to the well-being and progress of society by supporting both national and community-based programs that focus on children and their families. Headquartered in St. Simons Island, GA, the private Foundation provides a positive and far-reaching vehicle for creative solutions to social ills that affect children and their families. The ambitious mission of the Davis Love Foundation is to help build a better future for children and their families who are at risk of poor educational, economic, social and health outcomes. The Foundation provides grants and donations to community-based programs that focus on children and families in need.

In 2010, the Davis Love Foundation partnered with the PGA TOUR to become the Host Organization of The RSM Classic, an Official PGA TOUR Event.  The inaugural event occurred in October 2010 and currently holds a title sponsor contract with RSM, the nation’s leading provider of assurance, tax and consulting services focused on the middle market, through 2020. Over the first seven years, The RSM Classic has raised more than $7 million to support charities focused on children and families in need.  The funds benefit many organizations including Special Olympics (National, State and Local) and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Georgia.

Nicole Armstrong / Parenting Coach

Nicole obtained her BS degree in 2008 from Virginia Commonwealth University.  She went on to join the military and become certified through the University of Pennsylvania as a Master Resilience Trainer.  In this role she was responsible for conducting groups with the focus of helping individuals develop skills necessary to cope with adversity, adapt to change, and overcome challenges.  She has experience facilitating groups using mainly cognitive behavior therapy, teaching individuals valuable skills for managing stressful work and family situations.  She guided small group discussions on the importance of individual resilience and ways to cope with stressful life events that could lead to poor decision making and results.  Nicole is currently a graduate student at Augusta University, enrolled in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling M.Ed. program.

In her role as parenting coach, Nicole promotes overall family wellness by providing education and support to the families receiving treatment at Hope House.  Through group and individual sessions, as well as home visits, she engages clients and their families to provide relevant education specific to individual and family needs.  She provides documentation of groups and home visits as part of the PSSF treatment team to help assess and address the needs and progress of each client.  She creates and maintains client charts on each family participating in the parenting program.  Nicole conducts quarterly parenting assessments with all participants and uses the results as a guide to evaluate client’s strengths and areas to focus.  As a member of the parenting team, Nicole works with the Family Services Coordinator to plan and supervise participant field trips, activities, and events.

Ms. Dorothy Thompson

Dorothy H. Thomas Thompson entered into rest from natural causes on Friday, January 23, 2015 at her residence in Augusta, Georgia. A memorial service was held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Platt’s on Crawford Avenue. Dorothy was born on October 4, 1925 in Marietta, Minnesota. After completing high school, Dorothy graduated from the nursing program at the University of Iowa, and received her degree, with distinction, from the University of Minnesota. Dorothy co-founded Hope House for Women in 1986, and has been a recovery advocate in the Augusta area.

We – staff, clients, family members, and volunteers – could not be more grateful to Ms. Dorothy Thompson and Ms. Carrie Garrett for founding Hope House and all of the lives that have been impacted.

Smiles for Hope

Hope House was fortunate enough to again be selected to receive support from Dr. Andrew Allgood’s office through Smiles for Hope! The fundraising event ran from March of 2017 until June 1, 2017. It’s simple, you whiten your teeth, and a portion of the proceeds for the procedure go to support Hope House’s Therapeutic Childcare Center and Family Services!

The Therapeutic Childcare program is not simply a day care center; it is a curriculum that addresses all major issues challenging these children (i.e., mental, emotional, physical and social development) as a consequence of their parents suffering from addiction to alcohol or drugs.  It is designed to break the cycles of addiction and poverty.

  Our core services include:

+Disability screenings

+After-school tutoring

+School-readiness skills

+Field trips & extracurricular activities

+ Reunification and bonding assistance

+Substance abuse prevention services
